Application Statement Feedback Program
Our goal is to provide fast, constructive feedback and editing support for the research/personal statements of PhD applicants in psychology, with an emphasis on underrepresented minorities and/or those who are not ‘in the know.’
What’s happening?
ASFP 2023 is over! Our fourth year was the biggest yet, by far! We recruited and trained 235 editors from all across the country (PhD students, postdocs, and faculty). 850 eligible applicants submitted materials to ASFP, and we were able to match 562 of them with at least 2 editors. In the next seven days, our editors put in over 600 hours of total work, providing 1,200 double-blind, expert statement reviews to applicants one week later.
Do you want to take part in ASFP 2024? Check back in with us in a week or two and you’ll be able to sign up for our email lists which we’ll use to get in touch in fall 2024.
The ASFP 2023 Timeline:
Sunday October 8 - Wednesday October 18 (6pm PT, 9pm ET): Editor registration
Friday October 20 (10-11:30am PT, 1-2:30pm ET): Required New Editor Training
Monday October 23 - Thursday October 26 (6pm PT, 9pm ET): Applicant Submission Portal open
Friday October 27 (10-11am PT, 1-2pm ET): Optional Editor Workshop
Saturday Oct 28 - Wednesday November 1: The edit-a-thon
Thursday, November 2: Feedback is reviewed & packaged
Friday, November 3 (by 9pm PT, midnight ET): Feedback returned to applicants
